She did it! 1855km John O'Groats to Lands End

As a prospective client, Lorna got in touch 18 months ago with a long-burning ambition to run from John O'Groats to Lands End, via the Three Peaks. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime trip, requiring a huge amount of training, planning, commitment, and sacrifice.

7 weeks ago Lorna set off from John O'Groats a stronger and more robust athlete. Starting 1-2-1 coaching with us in May '21, we cross-trained for 12 months as Lorna put reoccurring injuries behind her. We stuck to the principles of endurance training with a large emphasis on strength šŸ‹ļøā€ā™€ļøšŸ’Ŗ, in time working towards the specific demands of the challenge. Preceding her departure, it was a case of convincing her to do much less! Her coach Paul Martin wanted her to start strong, knowing the first week would likely be the worst as her body adapted to the sustained stress you simply can't or wouldn't want to replicate in training.

Yesterday Lorna ran into Lands End to realise a dream with 1855 km behind her šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘ . She averaged almost 40km a day, moving between 40-60 hours a week, and we're absolutely delighted for her, and to have played a very small part in her journey. šŸ™ŒšŸ™

Motivation loves curiosity, an open-ended process, and little victories along the way. Lorna exemplified this mindset. Her drive, determination, commitment, and belief never wavered and we're truly inspired. šŸ“ˆšŸ¤™

"Thank you to my coach Paul Martin at North Endurance - Triathlon & Run Coaching. The multi-disciplinary approach with lots of strength work definitely worked and I got to the end injury free."

"Before I started Iā€™d been injured a few times and had a tendency to overtrain despite all my best intentions. Paul has taught me a lot about the right way to train and set goals and expectations."
