Why Coach

Having been involved in Triathlon from an early age, I chose to study Sport and Exercise Science in my continued pursuit of excellence, furthering my education to understand the scientific principles behind world class performance. Having recently completed my Master of Science in Sport & Exercise Physiology, I have learned how to train optimally in the hope that I too can emulate this in my own training and performances, sharing these principles with the athletes I coach.

I have previously worked with regional cycling squads and the British Triathlon Olympic hopefuls, both in coaching roles along with research. Areas I have conducted research in involve heat acclimation for the Tokyo Olympics, FTP testing validity, and comprehensive Bike fitting. Each of these studies has benefited the athletes I coach in their training and preparation for major events. I love working with high-performance athletes but have found that coaching newcomers for their first triathlons, from Sprint distance all the way up to a full IRONMAN has been equally if not more fulfilling.

Personally, I have won races from 1500m all the way up to the Marathon and Sprint distance to Middle distance Triathlons. This along with my years coaching an academic background ensures I know what it takes to compete at a high level both as an athlete, Sports Physiologist, and Coach.

Testimonials

Josh Kane

“Quality, absolutely top class. 2-way feedback is always the best way forward, I really enjoyed the structure, we had lots of conversations and we kept developing the program as the weeks went on. During my training, I experienced a freak injury. We got over this setback together and did what we could, adapting my plan to suit. I've already signed up to another 70.3 and looking forward to improving on my Bolton 70.3 performance.”
